How to prepare your parcel before placing an order

Courier companies are very strict about verifying packages by weight, size or type of packaging and adding extra charges.

Our aim is to advise you on how to avoid such surcharges.

Here are the basic rules you should pay attention to before shipping:

1. Weight and dimensions

  • carefully measure and weigh your parcel,
  • enter actual data, do not underweight or overweight.

2. Use default settings and order templates

always verify the shipment data that appears when you select templates or default settings. Carriers add a surcharge after weight and dimension checking.

3. packaging

  • It is always the sender’s responsibility to pack shipments appropriately. You can find the main packaging rules HERE.
    In addition, courier companies specify detailed conditions for packing shipments. You can find them in the guides: How to pack a parcel? – Courier companies’ guides,
  • use rectangular cardboard boxes, company plastic bags or envelopes,
  • shipments with packaging other than the above mentioned are treated as non-standard and when placing an order you should mark: “non-standard shipment”,
  • do not use any stretch foil to wrap the package,
  • do not combine several parcels in one shipment,
  • use fillers, there must be no empty spaces or loose elements in the parcel.
  • using warning stickers such as “caution”, “up – down”
  • tube – is treated as a non-standard shipment.

4. Exceptions to the method of packaging

You can send the tube as a standard parcel provided that you use a rectangular cardboard box.

5. Content of the parcel

  • if the content is glass, fragile, delicate or the parcel requires additional handling – mark “non-standard parcel”, it will protect you from potential damage of the parcel during mechanical sorting
  • It is absolutely forbidden to transport: pyrotechnic materials, corrosive substances and other goods listed in the ADR Convention, weapons and ammunition, flammable and explosive materials, items whose properties may pose a threat to people, or expose other parcels to destruction or contamination. Carriers reserve the right to charge for damage to other Customers’ shipments.

6. Documents confirming shipment

  • keep the confirmation of dispatch signed by the courier
  • we suggest taking a picture of the package before sending, with a picture of the waybill – to increase the effectiveness of potential complaint processes
